The Educational Technology Committee (ETC), with support from various post-secondary institutions in Ontario (including Algonquin College, Conestoga College, Fleming College, Loyalist College, Northern College, Seneca Polytechnic, and last year's host, Durham College), is proud to virtually host the 23rd Advancing Learning Conference, Envisioning Tomorrow: Generating the Future Together. This year's theme provides a platform for practicing educators to explore how educational technology has become a catalyst for transformative learning experiences in the classroom, turning students into leaders who are forward thinking, industry ready, and community oriented.
During Envisioning Tomorrow: Generating the Future Together, educators from across the province are encouraged to engage in meaningful conversations, share best practices, and explore cutting-edge tools that enhance face-to-face, online and HyFlex teaching and learning experiences in post-secondary institutions across Ontario.
Regisration is free for all attendees to this virtual event. Don't miss out!
Nidhi Sachdeva is an evidence-informed learning designer, post-secondary educator, researcher, and an educational technology specialist. She is interested in designing and integrating evidence-informed instructional practices using a wide range of educational technology tools including GenAI. Recently, she has been researching this through the notion of microlearning and cognitive science. Nidhi is the co-author of a newsletter called the Science of Learning, which aims to reduce existing gaps between educational research and instructional practice. She is also the chair for the upcoming ResearchEd Toronto conference titled 'Discovering the Science of Learning'.
With almost 20 years of experience developing and facilitating learning content for both face-to-face and online courses within formal higher education, Nidhi is extremely passionate about integrating the Science of Learning in her pedagogical practice. She is currently teaching in the Teacher Education program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE).
In an era where GenAI has rapidly transformed the educational landscape, educators are faced with the choice of resistance or adaptation. This session delves into the implications of resisting GenAI and the myriad benefits of embracing its potential. Through examining the evolving relationship between educators, students, and AI, attendees will discover strategies to integrate GenAI into educational practices, fostering a more effective learning environment. Join me in envisioning a collaborative future where AI and educators work hand in hand to shape the next generation of learners.
